Shippo’s head snapped up. “Oh, Kagome! I zoned out there. Didn’t even see you coming.” He smiled at her in that adorable way that made her forget where she was for a moment. 

“I got here early to get a good table. It’s right this way.” He led her to a beautifully set table in the corner. There was a bouquet of fragrant lilacs at her place setting. As he pulled out her chair, Shippo commented, “I hope you like those flowers. I don’t know what they are but the smell made me think of you. What do you think?”
